Geomatics engineering is an information technology discipline that deals with the acquisition, modeling, analysis and management of spatial data. Fundamental skills acquired during the University of Calgary's Geomatics Engineering Program include:
1) Project management principles such as planning, scope development, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up to engineering projects.
2) Advance programming skills including C++, Python, Java, Processing, MATLAB, SQL, ArcGIS(ESRI), QGIS and Microsoft Office
3) Estimation, statistical analysis, remote sensing, geodesy, satellite positioning, photogrammetry, signals/spectral analysis, mapping, environmental modelling, hydrography, wireless technologies and land surveying.
4) Design and implementation of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS).
5) System design, testing and integration of software and hardware products.
6) General engineering knowledge & application.
7) Engineering entrepreneurship & business fundamentals.
Specialization: Project Management & Engineering Entrepreneurship
